Description

The DILOYA Small Briquetting Press is a compact hydraulic machine for cold-pressing loose machining chips into dense, manageable briquettes. It is intended for machining centers, CNC workshops and metalworking facilities that produce a steady stream of aluminium, copper, brass or iron chips but do not need a large centralized briquetting line. The process applies mechanical pressure without melting the metal, helping a workshop turn bulky, difficult-to-handle chips into regular packages for collection, storage and recycling.

1> How the Cold-Press Process Works

Prepared chips are collected and fed into the press chamber. A hydraulic ram compresses each charge, reduces the air space between particles and forms a briquette. The finished block is discharged for collection, and the machine resets for the next charge. Depending on chip condition and machine configuration, cutting fluid retained in the feed may be expressed during compression and collected through a suitable recovery arrangement. Actual fluid separation and briquette density depend on chip shape, alloy, moisture, contamination and selected pressing force.

2> Suitable Metal Chips

Typical feedstock includes aluminium turnings, copper chips, brass swarf and ferrous or iron machining chips. These materials should be sorted by metal grade and assessed individually: long tangled turnings, very fine particles, hard inclusions or a high volume of tramp material can affect feeding and compaction. Chip size reduction, drainage, screening or drying may be needed before pressing. Metal chips must not be mixed with sealed containers, hazardous waste or materials outside the machine specification.

3> Why Briquette Chips at the Workshop?

Loose chips occupy significant bin space and can spill during internal movement or shipment. Compact briquettes simplify weighing, counting, temporary storage and transfer to a recycler or remelting operation. Separating compatible grades also helps preserve scrap value and traceability. Where recoverable cutting fluid is present, a properly configured collection system can support cleaner housekeeping and more controlled fluid management; the environmental outcome depends on how fluids and residues are handled at the site.

4> Compact Installation and Model Selection

The small press is suited to facilities that need a relatively modest footprint and power demand compared with a larger production line. DILOYA should size the chamber, pressing force, motor, feeding method, collection container and optional fluid-recovery arrangement against actual chip samples, hourly chip volume, operating schedule and available electrical supply. Customers should also confirm floor space, maintenance clearance and local environmental and workplace requirements before installation.

Advantage

> Cold hydraulic pressing: compresses suitable chips without a melting step or a high-temperature process.

> Compact workshop layout: a small machine footprint can fit near machining operations, subject to safe access and service clearance.

> Power sized to the task: the hydraulic and motor package can be selected for a small-scale chip stream rather than an oversized central line.

> Multiple metal grades: aluminium, copper, brass and iron chips can be assessed and processed in separate, compatible batches.

> Reduced loose-chip volume: regular briquettes are easier to collect, count, weigh and store than scattered swarf.

> Cleaner material handling: contained output helps limit chip spills during movement and shipment.

> Optional fluid management: a compatible collection arrangement can capture fluid expressed from suitable chips for controlled handling.

> Recycling-ready feed: sorted briquettes can simplify transfer to scrap buyers or remelting plants, subject to their acceptance specifications.

> Application-specific setup: pressing force, feeding, chip preparation and discharge can be matched to the customer's material and target throughput.

Application

The DILOYA BPM Series small metal chips briquetting press suitable for briquetting below materials:

Hand holding loose aluminium machining chips

Aluminium Chips

Aluminium Chips are precision-processed from pure aluminum and aluminum alloy via CNC turning and milling. Strictly sorted, cleaned and dried, these chips feature uniform shape, low oxidation and zero sundry impurities. As premium recycled aluminum raw materials, they deliver stable metallurgical and physical properties, ideal for aluminum smelting, alloy production, chemical processing and thermal conduction applications with high cost performance.

Loose curled aluminium turnings collected in a container

Aluminium Turnings

Aluminium Turnings are lightweight, spiral-shaped metal chips generated during machining, drilling and milling. DILOYA briquetting and baling systems compact loose turnings into dense, manageable blocks, helping reduce storage volume, improve transport efficiency and support aluminium recovery.

Loose fine cast iron machining chips

Cast Iron Chips

Cast iron chips are fine, brittle machining residues that are abrasive, dusty and difficult to store or charge in loose form. DILOYA hydraulic briquetting presses compress grey-iron and ductile-iron swarf into dense cylindrical briquettes while recovering part of the retained cutting fluid for cleaner handling, efficient transport and controlled foundry feeding. This application is intended for briquetting only.

Hand holding curled steel machining chips

Steel Chips

Steel chips from turning, milling, drilling and sawing are loose, oily and difficult to handle efficiently. DILOYA hydraulic briquetting presses compress carbon-steel, cast-iron and alloy-steel swarf into dense cylindrical briquettes, recovering part of the retained cutting fluid while improving storage, transport and furnace feeding. This application is intended for briquetting only.

Hand holding loose copper machining chips

Copper Chips

Copper chips from turning, milling and drilling are valuable but bulky, oily and easy to lose during handling. DILOYA hydraulic briquetting presses compact separated copper machining chips into dense binder-free cylinders while recovering part of the retained fluid for efficient storage, shipment and remelting. This Copper&Brass Scrap application is intended for briquetting only.

Brass machining chips collected in a large bin

Brass Chips

Brass chips from machining valves, fittings and alloy components are loose, oily and difficult to transport efficiently. DILOYA hydraulic briquetting presses compress sorted brass swarf into dense binder-free cylinders, recovering part of the retained cutting fluid while improving grade control, storage, shipment and furnace charging. This Copper&Brass Scrap application is intended for briquetting only.

Loose curled steel shavings collected in a bulk bag

Steel Shavings

Steel shavings are long, curled machining residues that interlock into bulky nests and retain cutting fluid. DILOYA can compress foldable shavings directly into rectangular transport bales, or shred long tangled nests into short uniform feed before hydraulic briquetting. Process selection depends on shaving geometry, fluid content, required density and downstream furnace specifications.

Loose curled copper turnings collected below processing equipment

Copper Turnings

Copper turnings are long, curled machining residues that form bulky, springy nests and may retain cutting fluid. DILOYA configures direct baling or shredding followed by hydraulic briquetting to produce manageable packages, with the process selected for the actual turning geometry, fluid condition and recycling requirements.

Loose brass turnings and curled machining swarf

Brass Turnings

Brass turnings are long, curled machining residues that can form bulky, tangled bundles. DILOYA selects suitable preparation and hydraulic compaction for the material, including shredding before briquetting where required, with attention to alloy separation, retained fluid and the desired finished package.

FAQ

How do I choose a briquetting system for a CNC workshop?+

Start with measured chip generation and the collection route through the workshop. Decide which streams can remain local and which justify central preparation, then match the press to the available operating hours. How to Choose a Metal Chip Briquetting Line for a Small CNC Machine Shop discusses this choice in detail, including why the smallest footprint is not always the simplest material-handling solution.

A practical selection sequence

  1. Separate and measure each metal-chip stream.
  2. Check whether the chips are short or need shredding.
  3. Define the desired briquette and fluid-handling result.
  4. Choose local or central collection from the actual workflow.
  5. Match the press and required accessories through a representative trial.

A compact local system may suit modest volumes, while central handling may suit several machines. Compare the full route from chip trolley to finished briquette, including shredding, buffering and fluid collection where needed, rather than choosing only a press rating.

Which metals can be considered for briquetting?+

Assess the alloy and the chip form together. Aluminium curls, copper granules and cast-iron chips are all metallic feed, but can differ in filling behaviour and pressing duty. Copper Cloves Briquetting Solutions illustrates one copper project; its reported density cannot be transferred to other alloys or interpreted as a universal press specification.

Provide alloy, chip size, bulk density and fluid condition. Hardness, spring-back and contamination affect the required preparation and pressing duty. Separate assessments may be needed when changing between substantially different materials.

Can long metal turnings go directly into a briquetting press?+

Long swarf should go directly into a press only when the exact inlet and feeding arrangement are approved for it. Tangled curls can create an inconsistent feed even when they can be pushed through an opening. Small Metal Turnings Shred-Briquetting Line illustrates a route with preparation; it should be compared with direct pressing using representative chip samples.

Send representative photos or samples of the actual swarf. The objective is a prepared chip form compatible with the inlet and feeding system, not the assumption that every press can accept an unrestricted machining-chip mixture.

How are briquette diameter and dimensions chosen?+

Choose briquette dimensions from the receiver's handling and process requirements, then confirm that the feed and press can achieve them consistently. Diameter alone does not describe a package: length, mass, strength and retained fluid may also matter. An attractive sample size is not enough if it does not suit the customer's actual collection and charging route.

A larger briquette is not automatically better or heavier across different alloys. Confirm the useful dimensions after discharge and any permitted variation. Tooling choices and changeover requirements should be defined before ordering rather than assumed universally interchangeable.

Does briquetting recover all cutting fluid?+

Briquetting can separate liquid under suitable conditions, but “all cutting fluid” is not a defensible general promise. Distinguish the liquid collected, liquid retained in the briquette and the basis used for any percentage. A dry-looking surface does not quantify either recovery or remaining content.

Separate three different measurements: liquid initially carried with the chips, liquid collected by the machine, and liquid remaining in the finished material. A percentage based on one of these is not automatically comparable with a percentage based on another.

Measure incoming and outgoing material under an agreed test method. The objective may be cleaner handling, fluid collection or downstream acceptance, each requiring a defined criterion. A figure from another material or machine does not establish the result for your project.
