Description

The DILOYA Heavy Duty Metal Baler, also called the Double Main Cylinder Heavy Duty Metal Baler, is a hydraulic compaction machine for recycling facilities handling bulky or high-volume metal scrap. Two main cylinders provide the final compression force across the bale-forming area. The machine converts loose material into dense rectangular bales that are easier to stack, weigh, load and transport than uncompressed scrap. It is a baler, not a shear: material that requires cutting should be prepared separately or assessed for a shear-baler system.

1> How the Double Main Cylinder Baling Cycle Works

A grab or material handler loads scrap into the chamber. The lid closes, and the hydraulic compression sequence reduces void space and forms a controlled charge. The two main cylinders then apply the final compression needed to shape the bale. After pressure is released and the chamber is opened, a suitable grab removes the finished bale. The cylinders return to their starting positions before the next load. Actual sequence, controls and handling equipment depend on the configured model.

2> Suitable Scrap and Material Preparation

Typical feedstock includes prepared steel offcuts, sheet and stamping scrap, wire, profiles, pipes and selected aluminium, copper or stainless steel scrap. Suitability depends on the largest piece size, wall thickness, hardness, springiness, loose density and contamination. Sealed containers, hazardous items and oversized solid sections must be screened out. Sorting metal grades before baling helps maintain consistent packages and supports buyer inspection.

3> Why Use a Heavy-Duty Grab-Out Baler?

Bulky scrap consumes yard space and is difficult to load consistently. High-force hydraulic compression creates more regular packages for inventory control, forklift or grab handling, truck loading and delivery to recyclers or remelting plants. The grab-out arrangement suits sites that already use a material handler for both charging and bale removal. Bale density and hourly production vary with the feedstock, chamber size and selected hydraulic system.

4> Project-Specific Configuration

DILOYA sizes the chamber, twin-main-cylinder force, bale dimensions, motor and pump group, cooling, wear protection and control system around the customer's material and operating schedule. Key inputs include material photos or samples, maximum piece dimensions, required throughput, target bale size, available electrical supply, feeding equipment and space for safe grab access. A project review is required before selecting a model or quoting performance.

Advantage

> Double main cylinder compression: two main rams apply final pressure across the bale-forming area for demanding scrap loads.

> Heavy-duty material handling: a large chamber can be specified for bulky prepared scrap and grab-fed operation.

> Grab-out bale removal: finished bales are removed using the site's material handler, avoiding an assumed push-out mechanism.

> Denser, regular packages: compressed bales improve stacking, weighing, inventory control and transport planning.

> Flexible feedstock: suitable ferrous and selected non-ferrous grades can be processed after a material assessment.

> Coordinated hydraulics: lid, side and main-cylinder movements can be sequenced for repeatable baling cycles.

> Control and protection options: PLC operation, remote control, chamber liners and accessible service points can be specified for the duty cycle.

> Configured to the site: force, chamber, bale dimensions, cooling and electrical equipment are selected against actual material and throughput needs.

Application

The DILOYA DCM Series heavy duty scrap metal baler can process below materials:

Pile of loose aluminium extrusion profile offcuts

Aluminium Profiles

Aluminium profiles and extrusion offcuts are long, hollow and difficult to stack efficiently. DILOYA hydraulic metal balers compress window frames, structural sections and production offcuts into dense, stable bales for safer handling, lower storage and transport costs, and consistent delivery to aluminium recyclers and remelting plants.

Mixed loose aluminium sheet and fabrication scrap

Aluminium Scrap

General aluminium scrap includes sheet offcuts, stampings, thin-gauge trimmings and mixed clean production pieces. DILOYA hydraulic aluminium scrap balers compress this loose material into dense, stable bales for efficient storage, safer handling, economical transport and consistent delivery to recycling and remelting plants.

Loose tangled aluminium wire scrap before baling

Aluminium Wires

Aluminium wire scrap is long, flexible and easily tangled, making loose material difficult to stack, load and transport. DILOYA hydraulic metal balers compress clean aluminium wires and cable conductors into dense, stable rectangular bales for safer handling, compact storage and efficient delivery to aluminium recyclers and remelting plants.

Mixed light-gauge metal scrap and compact bales in a recycling yard

Light Scrap Metal

Light scrap metal includes thin-gauge steel sheet, press-shop offcuts, panels and other bulky ferrous pieces. DILOYA hydraulic metal balers compress this loose, springy material into dense rectangular bales for controlled storage, efficient loading and economical transport. This application is intended for baling only.

Loose stainless steel tubes and fabrication offcuts

Stainless Steel Scrap

Stainless steel scrap includes sorted sheet offcuts, press skeletons, wire, mesh and light fabrication remnants. DILOYA hydraulic metal balers compress this valuable but bulky material into dense, stable bales while supporting grade separation, safer handling, compact storage and efficient shipment to stainless recyclers and melting plants. This application is intended for baling only.

Loose tangled reinforcing bar and steel rod scrap

Steel Bar

Steel bar scrap includes reinforcing bar, round bar, bent rod, short offcuts and tangled demolition rebar. DILOYA processes long or rigid bars with hydraulic scrap shears for controlled cut lengths, while shorter and bendable material can be compressed into dense transport bales with hydraulic metal balers. The correct route is selected from bar diameter, length, condition and downstream requirements.

Loose curled steel shavings collected in a bulk bag

Steel Shavings

Steel shavings are long, curled machining residues that interlock into bulky nests and retain cutting fluid. DILOYA can compress foldable shavings directly into rectangular transport bales, or shred long tangled nests into short uniform feed before hydraulic briquetting. Process selection depends on shaving geometry, fluid content, required density and downstream furnace specifications.

FAQ

How should I compare single-, double- and multi-ram baler designs?+

Compare ram designs by the problem their pressing sequence solves. Multiple directions may help control particular bulky scrap, but cylinder count alone does not establish bale quality or hourly output. Three Rams Shear Baler is one configuration to assess against the actual feed, chamber control and collection requirements.

Compare useful chamber size, approved material limits, finished bale and sustained output under equivalent conditions. Ask which operational problem a particular design addresses, such as bulky loading, compression direction or discharge, rather than selecting solely from the number of cylinders.

Can a metal baler accept heavy steel plate or structural sections?+

Heavy plate and structural sections need an explicit engineering assessment even if they physically fit inside a baler. Local loads and section strength can exceed a machine selected for light offcuts. The name Heavy Duty Metal Baler is not approval for every heavy object: provide actual section details and confirm limits before loading.

Do not use chamber fit alone as evidence of suitability. Provide section drawings or measurements and discuss the worst-case pieces. Machine selection should protect the intended operating envelope rather than rely on operator trial and error.

How do I select the charging-chamber size?+

Size the chamber around how the scrap actually arrives. A large sheet skeleton may bridge an opening even when its weight is low, whereas short offcuts may fill efficiently. Check the useful loading envelope, batch presentation and bale specification together. How to Match Material Size, Press Chamber Dimensions and Bale Requirements When Selecting a Metal Baler? develops this selection problem beyond nominal chamber dimensions.

  • Largest normal scrap dimensions and awkward shapes.
  • Loading-machine reach and batch size.
  • Useful chamber volume for bulky material.
  • Preparation needed for oversized pieces.
  • Finished-bale dimensions and the pressing sequence.

Consider the loading machine, typical batch size and whether incoming pieces require preparation. A large chamber may reduce loading frequency, but it must be matched to pressing force, cycle time and the required bale. Send maximum dimensions as well as average feed size.

Which loading method is suitable for a metal baler?+

Choose loading around the complete cycle: collection, presentation, chamber filling and the time the press waits for the next batch. The heaviest possible load is not always the most consistent one. If a conveyor is proposed, confirm the actual scrap envelope and interfaces; Steel Hinged Belt Conveyor provides relevant transfer-equipment context.

The useful loading comparison is not simply manual versus automatic. Check how scrap is collected, whether it needs repositioning, how each batch is presented and whether the next load can be prepared while the machine completes its cycle.

Include loading time in sustained-output testing when it is part of the agreed production boundary.

Check how consistently the chamber can be filled and whether loading limits the production cycle. The loading arrangement must avoid uncontrolled impact or unsuitable objects. Required guarding and working clearances should be part of the installation plan, not added as an afterthought.

How should bale density be evaluated?+

Calculate bale density from measured mass and the released bale's external dimensions, then assess whether that package is stable and acceptable. Density is a useful comparison only when the measurement stage is consistent. A chamber dimension under pressure can overstate the density of a springy bale after discharge.

Illustration: a bale measuring 0.5 m × 0.5 m × 0.5 m has an external volume of 0.125 m³. If its measured mass is 100 kg, the calculated bulk bale density is 800 kg/m³. These figures are an arithmetic example, not a promised bale specification.

A useful assessment also considers shape stability, loose edges, handling and the receiving furnace or recycler's requirements. Higher density is not the only goal if the package becomes unsuitable for handling or downstream processing. Agree the sampling and measurement method for acceptance.
